the first Health Information Informatics Technology Business
meeting of APHA was held in room 156 at the New Convention
Center in Washington, DC. The keynote speaker at this historic
event was Dr.Sohi Rastegar, Nanobiotechology Expert from the
National Science Foundation. Dr.Rastegar's topic was, What
is Nanotechnology?
Some
APHA participants who attended the meeting gladly took a picture
with Dr.Rastegar (fourth person from the left) and Dr.David
Potenziani from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
School of Public Health.
Sponsor
of this HIIT Group event was Universal Nursing Services, Inc.,
Akron, Ohio. Members from the American Medical Informatics
Association (AMIA) attended and pledge their support.
Dr.
Jay Bernhardt, Advisory Member to HIIT and who serves on the
Executive Board of the American Public Health Association
and the Georgia Public Health Association wasn't able to attend
due to another APHA meeting, but HIIT group managed to capture
him at his Special Invited Session, Expanding the Linkages
between Public Health and Information Technology on Tuesday,
November 9, 2004.
