Lillian Tom-Orme, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN

Dr. Lillian Tom-Orme, a member of the Dine or Navajo Nation, was born and raised on the Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico. Dine was her first language and she remains fluent in her native tongue. Dr Tom-Orme has expertise in telehealth/telemedicine and her current research includes patterns of cancer care and a national public health study of chronic conditions among a cohort of American Indian/Alaska Natives.

David Pontenziani, PhD

David Potenziani is the Director of the Instructional and Information Systems (IIS) department at the UNC-CH School of Public Health. His 40-person group manages information systems to provide video and data networking, data processing, web development, and developing online instructional systems to train and educate public health students.








Dr. Jay Bernhardt

Dr. Jay Bernhardt directs the Emory Center for Public Health Communication in the Rollins School of Public Health. He primarily conducts research on health messages delivered using information technology. Dr. Bernhardt also serves on the Executive Board of the American Public Health Association and the Georgia Public Health Association.












Dr. Dave Ross

Dr. Dave Ross directs the Public Health Informatics Institute. Dave’s career has spanned health services and environmental research, hospital administration, and clinical information systems. Through assistance from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Public Health Informatics Institute supports public health practitioners in understanding their needs for information technology solutions.













Dr. M.C. Roco

Dr. M. C. Roco chairs the National Science and Technology Council subcommittee on Nanoscale Science, Engineering and Technology (NSET), and is Senior Advisor for Nanotechnology at the National Science Foundation. He also directs research opportunities in the mechanical and chemical processes, and coordinates the programs on academic liaison with industry (GOALI). He is the key architect of the National Nanotechnology Initiative, and coordinated the preparation of the National Science and Technology Council reports on Nanotechnology Research Directions (NSTC, 1999) and National Nanotechnology Initiative (NSTC, 2000).

Dr. Polly Turner


Dr. Polly Turner is the Director of the Graduate Program in Health Care Administration, Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. An proficient health administrator, Dr. Turner is experienced in curriculum development and has significant interest in developing online instructional systems for graduate students. Dr. Turner is the Recipient of the 2004 Excellence in Health Care Administration Award, American Public Health Association, Health Administration Section.










David Rookard



David Rookard has served for the past 18 years as the Chief Financial Officer for Universal Nursing Services, Inc., one of the nation's oldest and largest minority owned home health care company. In 2003, he was awarded business man of the year by the National Republican Party. In 2004, David was registered in the National Registry of Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals.

Diane L. Adams, MD, MPH., Chair


Dr. Diane L. Adams is a Consultant to the Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT), and is Founding Member of the Health Informatics Information Technology Group of APHA (HIIT). She has expertise in the areas of telehealth/telemedicine, computerized patient based records, and biotechnology.

Jayfus T. Doswell, PhD Candidate, CoChair

Jayfus Tucker Doswell, M.S, PhD (candidate) at George Mason University in Information Technology . Doswell has experience implementing and managing enterprise wide information technology systems ranging from bioinformatics and biological threat surveillance to telemedicine/telehealth systems.

Sandra A. Worrell, MS - Chair

Sandra Worrell is a Program Director for the University of Connecticut and collaborates with the Connecticut Department of Social Services to manage the planning and implementation of staff training and organizational development activities. She has over 15 years of experience in adult learning, curriculum design & development, classroom training, strategic planning and project management.

Laurie Fitts, PhD, Chair


Dr. Laurie Fitts is the Health Services Research Analyst for the National Quality Measures Clearinghouse (NQMC). NQMC, sponsored by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), is a database and Web site for information on specific evidence-based health care quality measures and measure sets. Dr. Fitts has over 10 years experience as a health administrator.

Dr. M. Brian Blake

Dr. M. Brian Blake is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Georgetown University with a courtesy joint appointment in Georgetown Medical Center's Radiology Department. Dr. Blake has over a decade of experience in software engineering and systems development. Currently, he is investigating techniques for building reliable systems for health-related purposes (i.e. image-guided surgery and tele-medicine).

Brenda A. Leath, MHSA. is the Secretary of the Washington, DC Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Partnership and is a presidential appointee by President George W. Bush to the President's Committee for People With Intellectual Disabilities.
